The Fretboard Journal: No. 4
I wrote an article titled "Stars of the North" that appeared in this
issue of the Fretboard Journal. If your unfamiliar with this magazine
you should take some time and seek it out the next time you're in
your local book store. There's only 20% advertising throughout and
the editors focus as much on the art of the article as they do on the
content, (great photos). My article followed a 20 page photo essay
of the PRS Guitar factory.
My subjects were Charlie Hoffman, Jim Olson, Michael Keller,
Kevin Ryan and Brian Applegate. I focused on the subtle yet
substantial links between these five builders. How they learned from
one another and how they each in turn inspired the other. It was a
great chance to follow my own influences and see that I am really
not as far removed as I might think.
The magazine is a great, and constant variety as well as a well
rounded source of information. Be on the look out for more articles
from me in the future.
